Moldova's Foreign Ministry condemned the Russian Foreign Ministry's annual report entitled "Violations of the Rights of Russian Citizens and Compatriots Abroad." The document states that Moldova is allegedly "rapidly moving toward support of the ideology of neo-Nazism and racial discrimination. The Foreign Ministry in Chisinau denied the allegations of discrimination against Russians and said it respects the rights and freedoms of all citizens, regardless of their nationality, the Moldovan portal NewsMaker wrote.
On December 20, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a report written by Deputy Minister Sergei Vershinin. It collected information on "violations of the rights of Russian citizens and compatriots" in 42 countries and Kosovo. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, "the problem of violations of the rights of Russian citizens abroad has only worsened in recent years thanks to the efforts of Western countries".
